What we do

Four things, and we will tell you if you need none of them.

Everything here is quoted as a fixed price after a free conversation. No subscriptions, no call-out fees, and no product we happen to resell.

For your home

The home network

Your router is the front door to everything in the house, and it was almost certainly left exactly as it arrived. That is not carelessness - nobody is ever told otherwise. We go through it with you and leave it in a state you understand.

What we look at

  • The router’s own password, and whether it is still the one on the sticker
  • Whether the router can be reached from the internet, and whether it should be
  • How old its software is, and whether anyone is still issuing updates for it
  • The Wi-Fi: the encryption in use, the strength of the key, and the guest network
  • What else is on the network - cameras, televisions, speakers, a console, a printer
  • Whether a work laptop shares that network with all of it
  • Who resolves your DNS, and whether anything has been quietly redirected

What you get

  • A written summary a non-technical person can read and act on
  • The changes made with you watching, not behind your back
  • A separate network for guests and for the devices that do not need to see anything else, wherever the router supports one
  • Your passwords written down, in your hands, in a form you can use later
  • A short list of what to replace and when, if anything
  • A follow-up check a few weeks later, included

After something has happened

An account stops accepting your password. Money leaves and does not come back. A message says somebody has your photographs. The first hours matter, most advice online is written for a different country, and panic is not a plan.

What we look at

  • What was actually reached: one account, the email behind it, or the whole device
  • Whether the way in is still open, which matters more than what was taken
  • Recovery routes the provider genuinely offers, as opposed to the ones that are advertised
  • Which passwords are now unsafe, including the ones you reused elsewhere
  • Whether the bank, the card issuer or the police need to be told, and by when
  • Whether anything is still running on the device

What you get

  • An order to do things in, starting with the one that stops it continuing
  • Accounts recovered through the provider’s own process, with you present
  • A written account of what happened, dated - which is what a bank or an insurer will ask for
  • The device cleaned or rebuilt, whichever is honestly necessary
  • A password arrangement you will actually keep using
  • Plain advice on what is recoverable and what is not, rather than hope

Children and screens

Filters are worth having and they are not the point. A twelve-year-old will get past most of them, and the ones they cannot get past are usually the ones that also break homework. We set up what works and tell you honestly where the limit of it is.

What we look at

  • What each device and each account can already do, before buying anything
  • Filtering at the network, so it covers the devices you did not think of
  • Age-appropriate settings on the platforms actually being used
  • Time limits, and whether they are worth the argument they cost
  • What a child can see about the controls, which we think should be everything
  • The specific risks that matter at the age in question, not a generic list

What you get

  • Controls set up on the network and on the devices, with you making the choices
  • A short written explanation you can show the child, because it works better
  • What the controls do not cover, said plainly, so you are not falsely reassured
  • A note on what to revisit as they get older
  • No monitoring of a child’s private messages - see the boundary below

Backups and photographs

Almost everyone has one copy of everything that matters, on a phone or a laptop, and believes that a cloud account is a backup. It is a copy, which is not the same thing: delete a photograph in the wrong place and it goes from both.

What we look at

  • What you would actually be upset to lose, which is a shorter list than everything
  • Where it lives now, and how many genuinely separate copies exist
  • Whether your cloud account is a backup or a synchronised mirror of one mistake
  • What happens to it all if a phone is stolen, or an account is closed
  • Whether anyone has ever got a file back out

What you get

  • A backup that runs without anyone remembering to run it
  • A second copy that is not in the same building or the same account
  • A restore, done in front of you, of a file you choose
  • A page of instructions for the person who will have to do this when you cannot
  • An honest cost, including what the storage will cost you per year

Most people are not. Describe the situation and we will tell you - including when the answer is that you do not need us.
